The Metropolitan city Daegu is located in the middle of Korea. So, It has been the center of history, administration, education, and culture of Korea.
Daegu is also known as "Textile City". There are a lot of famous and huge textile and dyeing factories which have long story. Daegu represented an unprecedented concentration of businesses spanning across a wide array of businesses, from textile, weaving, yarn, preparation, dyeing, to textile machinery, textile chemistry, distribution, and international trading. The city features a balanced production infrastructure in both upstream and downstream, evenly developed production technologies, and even distribution of businesses across the entire streams of the industries. Thus, Daegu offers opportunities to achieve growth by connecting with the industrial streams.
Daegu’s textile industry first began with the construction of textile factories during the Japanese Occupation. In the 1960s and 1970s, the textile and fashion products from the city earned the country a significant sum of revenue in export. Now, the city has become an area that represents Korea’s textile industry.
With the establishment of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone (DGFEZ) and Esiapolis specialized in textile and fashion, Daegu is currently focusing on fostering fashion and high-tech industries. Daegu continues the efforts to further advance the city and its industries, through active investment activities and joint development projects with various institutions, research centers, and businesses aimed at the development of cutting-edge technologies for wearable fashion products, highly sensitive materials, as well as other materials and fashion items for the future.
